Sermon Resources

The young pastor must be a preacher! Preaching demands preparation–adequate preparation, Holy Spirit-anointed preparation, preparation that produces spiritual fruit. Such fruit does not just happen. The young preacher absolutely must devote constant attention to sermon preparation. When one sermon is completed, the mind and heart must begin to plan the next message. The Young Pastor’s Will

A will is a legal document. The written record expresses a person’s personal desires and plans for earthly possessions. The average young pastor thinks, “I don’t have enough money to need a will!”

Or, he states, “I’m afraid to get a will. I may die the next day.” That was my opinion until my brother-in-law, John S. Craft, died at age 39 in a single-vehicle accident. As soon as my wife and I got back home, we immediately began to prepare our financial affairs in case of our deaths. (more…)

Set Goals

Setting personal goals is essential for accomplishing anything worldwide. Goals give a sense of direction and purpose, promote daily enthusiasm, facilitate effective operation, reduce wasting time and accomplish far more than would be achieved without goals.

Goals act as a measuring stick to determine what we are accomplishing. Without goals we have activity but often little productivity. Just being busy is not necessarily rewarding at the end of the day. (more…)

D-Day

Don’t avoid things in life you just don’t want to consider. You’d rather put them on the back burner, thinking, “l’m young. When You Move

Excitement fills the air when the young pastor and his wife make plans to move to a new church—new visions, greater opportunities, the challenges of preaching, leading, witnessing and visiting. The move is made, the furniture unloaded. Some church members drop by. And suddenly, it hits him like a ton of bricks. “l am the pastor. I am the one the church has approved. I’m it! Lord, help me. Where do I begin?”
